- Using a Customer ID

- You may only do cash sales, but many businesses like to know who is buying what and want the customer’s name for the record and for mailing lists.

- Other shops have in-house charge accounts for some of their customers.
-
- To do a Sales Ticket for a customer whose record is already on file:
-
- 1. Open a Sales Ticket on the Sales menu.
-
- 2. Enter your initials in the Sold By box—Tab.
-
- 3. Type “JLCT” in the Customer ID field—Tab.
-
- You do not have to type it in caps.

- ShopKeeper will enter the customer’s name and address for you automati- cally.

- 4. Continue the Sales Ticket as usual.

- If the sale is to be charged to a shop account (JLCT here), you do not need to click on a payment type button.

- Finding a Customer ID

- Sometimes you need to find a Customer ID or check if a Customer Record is on file.
-
- We will check if John Altmann has an account. If he does, we’ll find his ID code.

- 1. Choose Sales Ticket on the Sales menu.
-
- 2. When the Sales Ticket opens, click on the ? Cust button.
-
- A search box will show.
-
- 3. Click on the A button.

- You can also type in ALTMANN or just “ALT” in the Search String box. This is sometimes better because fewer records will be listed.

- A list of all the records beginning with A will appear, if there are any.

- 4. Click in the box to the left of the Customer ID, “ALT”.

- The customer information will be entered in the Sales Ticket for you,
- automatically .

- If there are no matches, a message will tell you so.

- Entering a question mark in the Customer ID field of a Sales Tickets
- is the same as pushing the ? Cust button.

- Finding an Item No.
-
- A customer may want to buy something that has no Item No. tag on it. If so, there is an easy way to find the number for the item.
-
- At times, too, before adding an item to the inventory as a new item, you will need to check if the item has a number already—just to be sure.
-
- In both cases, use the ? Item button.
-
- For practice, say a customer wants to buy ice tongs, but there’s no Item No. tag on the box.
-
- 1. Choose Sales Ticket on the Sales menu.
-
- 2. After the Sales Ticket opens, click on the ?Item button.

- You can also enter a question mark as the Item No. and Tab. It is the
- same as clicking on the ? Item button.
- An Inventory Search box will appear.
- 3. Enter ICE in the Search for... box.

- The description field of every item in the inventory will be searched.

- When the search is done, a list of matching items will show on the screen—if there is a match.

- 5. Click on the box to the left of the ICE TONGS number V117/M.

- The Item No. and information will be entered on the Sales Ticket automati- cally.

- If the listing is long, page forward until you find your item.

- If there is no match, a message will tell you.
